2025 State High School Knowledge Bowl Competition
Knowledge Bowl is a fast-paced, team-based academiccompetition that challenges students to answer questions across a wide range ofsubjects, including history, science, literature, and current events. Thecompetition consists of both written and oral rounds, testing participants'knowledge recall and critical thinking skills in a "Jeopardy-style"format.
Currently over 800 teams from 290 Minnesota school districtsparticipate in senior high knowledge bowl competitions. South Central ServiceCooperative administers Knowledge Bowl for Region 9. Six teams from our region advancedto the state competition on April 10-11 at Cragun’s Resort in Brainerd,Minnesota.
After one written round and five oral rounds, New Ulm Purplefinished in 2nd place in the AAA division, coached by Rob Bute andSteve Foley. Team members include Henry Albrecht, Sophie Berger, Ben Groebner,Ryan Martinka, and Cullen Slette. Minnesota Valley Lutheran White finished in 5thplace in the AA division, coached by Bradley Nehls. Team members include JamisMartens, Ezra Spike, Joshua Carlovsky, and Drew Witte.
In 1979, Lakes County Service Cooperative purchased therights to “Rural Knowledge Bowl”. The first year involved only nine teams fromthat region. Over the years, more Minnesota Service Cooperatives across thestate joined, and the name was legally changed to Knowledge Bowl.
