Announcing a Mankato Cohort of the Minnesota Principals Academy!

By Katie Pekel, Ed. D.
We are excited to announce that we are now accepting applications for the Mankato cohort of the 2025-2027 Minnesota Principals Academy!
The Minnesota Principals Academy is a two-year executive development program funded in part through a legislatively allocated grant from the Minnesota Department of Education. Visit our website for additional information. The Minnesota Principals Academy is intended for an array of educational leaders including, but not limited to principals and assistant principals, district office leaders, and special education leaders.
Application
Each interested cohort member must complete the online application by June 16. We anticipate being able to accept 35 applicants.
Location
We will hold the Mankato cohort at the South Central Service Co-Op in North Mankato
Dates
We intend to begin the cohort this August. The full tentative schedule is available here.
Investment
There is an investment of both time and money as a participant in the Principals Academy.
- The cost of the program is $7,000/participant. Currently, half of that cost is covered for public school leaders through legislative funding appropriated to the Minnesota Department of Education. The remaining $3,500 is paid over two fiscal years, leaving each participant’s district responsible for $1,750 per year. This legislative funding is expected to continue through 2027.
- The Academy meets for two full days about every 6-8 weeks. There is pre-work before each session that includes reading assignments, but no writing. Each participant completes an Action Learning Project focused on a problem of practice in their setting throughout the Academy.
