New Facilitator Brings Experience and Vision to the Greater Mankato CEO Program

The Greater Mankato CEO Program is welcoming a new facilitator who will help guide high school students as they explore entrepreneurship, leadership, and real-world business experiences.

Laura Harstad has joined the Greater Mankato CEO Program as its new facilitator, bringing more than 25 years of experience in education, nonprofit leadership, recruitment, and entrepreneurship. Her diverse background and passion for developing others will help students build the confidence and skills needed to become tomorrow's business and community leaders.

Harstad is a graduate of Minnesota State University, Mankato, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in K–12 Vocal Music Education, and Bethany Lutheran College, where she earned an Associate of Arts. Throughout her career, she has focused on creating opportunities that encourage growth, connection, and lifelong learning. She is also the founder and director of the Mankato Homeschool Choir and serves as a certified mindset coach and speaker.

The Greater Mankato CEO Program, supported by South Central Service Cooperative (SCSC), provides high school students with an immersive entrepreneurial experience unlike a traditional classroom. Students spend the school year learning directly from local entrepreneurs, visiting area businesses, and developing their own business ideas while building leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Through partnerships with area business leaders, students gain firsthand insight into entrepreneurship and the many career pathways available throughout the Greater Mankato region. The program emphasizes innovation, collaboration, and community engagement while helping students develop the confidence to pursue their future goals.

Harstad shared in a recent announcement that she is excited to join the CEO Program because of its commitment to giving students authentic entrepreneurial experiences while helping them build meaningful relationships with local business leaders.

Programs like the CEO Program align closely with SCSC's commitment to expanding Career and Technical Education opportunities that prepare students for success beyond graduation. By connecting education with local business and industry, students develop workforce-ready skills while discovering how their interests and talents can lead to rewarding careers.

Whether students plan to launch their own business, enter the workforce, or continue their education, the CEO Program provides experiences that help them think creatively, lead confidently, and make meaningful connections within their communities.
