SCSC's Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Community of Practice is a group of licensed DHH teachers who specialize in supporting and working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Their role involves various responsibilities related to the assessment, education, and overall well-being of these children. Some of the key tasks and responsibilities of a DHH CoP may include: Assessment and Evaluation; Individualized Education Plans (IEPs); Advocacy; Collaborating with Educational Teams; Communication Support; Parent and Family Support; Training and Professional Development; Access to Resources; and Keeping Current on the latest research.
The specific duties of a DHH CoP may vary depending on the needs of the children they serve. The ultimate goal is to provide these children with the tools and support they need to thrive academically and socially while embracing their unique communication and learning styles.
