Minnesota Paraprofessional Requirements
Minnesota law requires paraprofessionals to meet specific qualifications to be considered Highly Qualified and work with certain student populations. To be eligible, paraprofessionals must meet one of the following criteria:
- Earn at least 60 college credits from an accredited institution
- Hold an associate degree or higher
- Complete the MDE-approved competencies, or
- Achieve a passing score on the ParaPro or ParaEducator Assessment
Support from SCSC
South Central Service Cooperative (SCSC) provides assistance with the ParaPro and ParaEducator assessments to help paraprofessionals attain Highly Qualified status. Contact us for more information or to schedule an assessment.
